Summary | ChatGPT Recommended and NOT Recommended Plug-ins

10/15/2023

Recommended Plugins
The  following are some valuable plug-ins recommended after reviewing all 600 plug-ins as of October  2023  (from this video):
  1. Wolfram Plugin: A powerful tool for solving complex math equations, plotting graphs, and providing step-by-step solutions. Ideal for students and professionals needing mathematical assistance.
  2. VoxScript: A versatile tool for searching through various data sources, including YouTube transcript and web, fetching real-time web search results, and obtaining content from specific websites. Great for researchers, writers, and those needing quick information. We can use this plugin to find interesting videos and then use the VideoInsights or VideoSummary plugin to create a video summary to speed up the research process.
  3. VideoSummary: Provide in-depth video content analysis, generating transcriptions, key insights, and summaries, which is Ideal for students, professionals, and anyone needing quick insights from videos. Similar plugins are VideoInsights.io, Video Highlights, and Video Caption. We don't see significant differences. It will based on personal preferences. We also evaluated the YouTube Summary plugin, which we don't recommend because the same video URL, both Video Summary and Video Insights, can provide the summary, but YouTube Summary can't deliver results. Our channel setup is provided at ChatGPT 4 | How to Use Generate Video Summary and Transcripts
  4. Diagrams:Show Me: A visualization plugin that generates diagrams, flowcharts, organizational charts, and mind maps based on text inputs. Useful for business users, planners, and educators. Not the result is a Mermaid data. We can get the diagram using draw.io by inserting from Mermaid option. The evaluation details is at: ChatGPT 4 | How to generate diagram using Diagram:Show Me plugin.
  5. AskYourPDF: Transforms PDFs into searchable formats, allowing users to ask questions about the document's content. Useful for quickly finding specific information in large documents. We have to uploaded the PDF to a Google Drive and then provide the PDF to AskYourPDF plugin to search.  The evaluation details is given at ChatGPT 4 | How to search within PDF using the AskYourPDF plugin.
  6. MixerBox ImageGen: Generated image from a description prompt. The result is pretty good. ChatGPT 4 | How to generate image read to be used

ChatGPT 4 | How to use Zapier Plug-in (Don't Use)

10/15/2023

Zapier connects applications within ChatGPT.  One example is to create a Google document from ChatGPT along with VideoInsight Plug-in Enabled.
Prompt: Please write a blog post that is 500 words long and is SEO-friendly. Use headings and subheadings to make it easier to read. Please format it for readability and keep the reading level at an 8th-grade level. Please do not use any promotional language. Please create blog post content based on the YouTube video: <YouTube Video URL>. Once the blog post is complete, please create a zap to copy the content to my Google Doc.
We can also make the ziper to directly post the document to a blogging website.

After evaluated the plug-in, I stopped setting it in ChatGPT because:
  • Zapier requires access to my account for all the connected applications with high privileges, such as creating, deleting documents, sending emails, etc. This has raised some security concerns (Question: Are Zapier safe to use?)
  • Zapier requires API access to OpenAI, which may result in incurring additional costs.
I may come back to this. If Zapier works for you, please leave your comments.

ChatGPT | How To Create ChatGPT Prompt from Beginner to Pro in 30 Minutes

10/13/2023

I share my research on how to createe ChatGPT prompt with you so you can learn the concppt, write simple and advance GPT prompt with in one hour.

As a beginner, please start with including the following six elements in your prompt. The elements are listed in the order of importance:
  • Task: Always start with a specific action verb (e.g., generate, write, analyze) and clearly state the end goal.
  • Context: Provide relevant background information. Jeff suggests asking three questions: the user's background, what success looks like, and the environment they're in.
  • Exemplars: These are examples that can drastically improve the quality of the output. For instance, using a structure or framework as a guide for ChatGPT.
  • Persona: Define who you want ChatGPT to emulate. It could be a specific professional, a famous individual, or even fictional characters.
  • Format: Visualize the desired end result with specific number of words and the output format. Common formats include tables, emails, bullet points, and code blocks.
  • Tone: Specify the tone of voice, whether casual, formal, witty, enthusiastic, etc. Jeff suggests telling ChatGPT the feeling you're aiming for.

Considering this formula:  Persona + Context + Specific Task + Desired Response Content and Format = Perfect Prompt

The following is an example:  You are a nutrition expert who specializes in food for Asians. I need to prevent breast cancer that is  sensitive to estrogen.Please recommend a list of foods I can and cannot eat like a friend. Please use a table to list the food category with the Can and Can NOT column and a column explaining why. Finally, give me three key takeaways.

Analysis: You are a nutrition expert who specializes in food for Asians. (Persona) I need to prevent breast cancer that is  sensitive to estrogen. (Context) Please recommend a list of foods I can and cannot eat (Task) like a friend (Tone). Please use a table (Format) to list the food category with the Can and Can NOT column and a column explaining why. (Example) . Finally, give me three key takeaways.  (Task)

Then, learn typical use cases of ChatGPT:
  • Job Searching help: ChatGPT can help extract essential requirements from job descriptions, revise resumes, and create interview question answers for preparation.
  • Creaete summaries. This includes creating books, meetings, or discussion summaries.
  • Writing Assistance: Checking grammar issues and rewriting articles with different tones and styles
  • Email creation: creating emails in different situations, such as meeting invites or announcements.
  • Create data in a spreadsheet or any tabular format
  • Generate code
Please refer to our prevued discussion on the ChatGPT use cases: ChatGPT: How AI Can Improve Productivity.

Finally, The best way is to customize the prompt example and practice yourself.  Try the following good examples (some of them are from the videos we reviewed):
  • Emoji Converter Prompt: Covert Star War to emoji.
  • Job Description Summary Prompt: Reference an existing job description I found on LinkedIn.
  • Resume Rewrite Prompt: Rewrite this bullet point using this structure: 'I accomplished X by the measure Y that resulted in Z'.
  • Interview Preparation Prompt: Write me an answer to the interview question: 'What's your biggest weakness?' Use the STAR answer framework: Situation, Task, Action, and Results.
  • User Feedback Table Prompt: Take all the feedback and output a table with three headers: the original feedback, the team responsible for following up, and priority.
  • Industry Report Summary Prompt: I just received a lengthy industry report for my director. First, give me the three key takeaways, then summarize based on topic. Use H2 as section headers.
  • Tone Keywords for Email Prompt: I'm writing an email to a team I haven't worked with before, and I want to be taken seriously without coming off as too stuck up and cringy. Can you please give me a list of five tone keywords I can include in a prompt for ChatGPT?
  • Comprehensive Email Prompt: You are a senior product marketing manager at Apple and you have just unveiled the latest Apple product in collaboration with Tesla, the Apple car, and received 12,000 pre-orders which is 200% higher than target. Write an email to your boss, Tim Cook, sharing this positive news. The email should include a TL;DR section, project background, business results section, and end with a section thanking the product and engineering teams. Use clear and concise language and write in a confident yet friendly tone.
  • Simpler Email Prompt: I just launched a new product, the Apple car. I received 12,000 pre-orders. Please draft an email to my boss with this update.

The following are some of our examples:

Book Summary Prompt (Source): Write a thorough yet concise summary of [Book Title] by [Author] concentrating on only the most important takeaways and primary points from the book that together will give me a solid overview and understanding of the book and its topic Include all of the following in your summary: Main topic or theme of the book, why it’s worth reading, key ideas or arguments presented,  chapter titles or main sections of the book with a paragraph on each, key takeaways or conclusions , author’s background and qualifications,  comparison to other books on the same subject , target audience or intended readership,  reception or critical response to the book,  publisher and first published date,  recommendations [Other similar books on the same topic],, and  1 or 2 popular quotes. To sum up: The book’s biggest takeaway and point in a singular sentence OUTPUT: Markdown format with #Headings, ##H2, ###H3, + bullet points, + sub-bullet points.

As a pro, we need to consider the following techniques:
  • Training the ChatGPT with the content means we can provide our previous writing to tell what kind of response should be created, such as please give the answer in the same writing style.
  • Use Plug-ins means we use plug-in available to ChatGPT-4 in the Plus account to find more support.
The following are some valuable plug-ins recommended after reviewing all 600 plug-ins as of August 2023  (from this video):
  1. Wolfram Plugin:A powerful tool for solving complex math equations, plotting graphs, and providing step-by-step solutions. Ideal for students and professionals needing mathematical assistance.
  2. Vox Script: A versatile tool for searching through various data sources, fetching real-time web search results, and obtaining content from specific websites. Great for researchers, writers, and those needing quick information.
  3. Show Me Diagrams: A visualization plugin that generates diagrams, flowcharts, organizational charts, and mind maps based on text inputs. Useful for business users, planners, and educators.
  4. Zapier Plugin: Connects different apps, services, and tools, allowing automation of tasks. Integrates ChatGPT with hundreds of online services, such as email, social media, and cloud storage.
  5. Ask Your PDF: Transforms PDFs into searchable formats, allowing users to ask questions about the document's content. Useful for quickly finding specific information in large documents.
  6. Video Insights: Provides in-depth analysis of video content, generating transcriptions, key insights, and summaries. Ideal for students, professionals, and anyone needing quick insights from videos.

Hope this is helpful.

ChatGPT | Creating Prompts to Generate Code

7/14/2023

We can use ChatGPT to generate code, for example, a Javascript used for webpages. The following is an example prompt asking ChatGPT to create a map to index our travel blogs.
Prompt: As a web developer, create a web page code that displays a world map, and create an array with the location in(Latitude and longitude, page name). Then, the user can click on the map with the location info link to a fixed link like sukeeteatime.com/+page name.
Note that the prompt has to provide specific requirements so that ChatGPT can generate the code we need. The example generated code is shown as follows, and the index map page is used on the My Destinations page. â€‹
<div id="map"/>
<script>
        // Array of locations with latitude, longitude, and page name
        var locations = [
            { lat: 40.712776, lng: -74.005974, name: "New York" },
            { lat: 51.5074, lng: -0.1278, name: "London" },
            { lat: 35.6895, lng: 139.6917, name: "Tokyo" },
            // Add more locations here...
        ];

        // Initialize and display the map
        function initMap() {
            var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById('map'), {
                center: { lat: 0, lng: 0 },
                zoom: 2
            });

            // Create markers and info windows for each location
            locations.forEach(function(location) {
                var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
                    position: { lat: location.lat, lng: location.lng },
                    map: map
                });

                var infoWindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow({
                    content: '<a href="https://sukeeteatime.com/' + location.name + '">' + location.name + '</a>'
                });

                marker.addListener('click', function() {
                    infoWindow.open(map, marker);
                });
            });
        }

ChatGPT | Creating Prompts for Daily Journal Review

7/5/2023

A daily journal records our thoughts and activities. We can use ChatGPT to summarize content in our daily journal so it serves as a life coach who can summarize what we have done and provide feedback and suggestions. The following is an example of a ChatGPT Prompt.
Please be my diary assistant. I will write down my random thoughts and notes throughout the day. At the end of the day, I will ask you:
1. Collect all my thoughts and notes in a day and fully quote the original text of the collected notes.
2. Write a full diary based on them. This new version should have a better format and logical structure, a better writing level without changing the original meaning of my diary.
3. Summarize the key points in the diary.
4 According to the diary, make important insights into my life and give encouragement/comfort/analysis/advice like a psychologist/life tutor, etc.
5. Analyze the content of my diary and create a list of feasible to-do items. The format is as follows:
-[Task Name]: [Task Description ]
Please note: No matter what I enter on this day, you only need to reply: “####”. Only when I type “Hi ChatGPT, let’s end today’s diary” did you start to perform the tasks I set. Thank you very much!
To avoid overloading our ChatGPT with too many questions, we can write down thoughts in a notebook and then copy the content to clipboard and request like this:
From my [Clipboard] content, make important insights into my life and give encouragement/comfort/analysis/advice like a psychologist/life tutor, etc.

ChatGPT | Creating Prompts for Book Reviews

7/4/2023

Effective ChatGPT prompts can greatly enhance our interactions with the AI model. Let's unlock ChatGPT's full potential by exploring key strategies for creating highly effective prompts. To illustrate these strategies, we will delve into an example of generating book reviews, specifically focusing on the renowned masterpiece 'To Kill a Mockingbird' by Harper Lee.

Role-Playing and Context Setting is a technique where we instruct the AI to embody a specific role or consider a particular context. This approach can influence the tone, style, and content of the responses.

Example:  Let's imagine you're a distinguished literature professor elucidating how Atticus Finch's profound sense of justice influences the pivotal trial in 'To Kill a Mockingbird.'

Clarity and Specificity play a vital role in crafting prompts that precisely communicate our expectations to the AI. By providing detailed instructions and a clear structure, we can further guide the AI's output towards more targeted responses.

Example: Consider the following prompt structure for a comprehensive book review:
1. Begin with a concise plot summary.
2. Analyze the main characters, utilizing the format [Character Name]: [Analysis]. Place particular emphasis on the main characters, examining how their character traits influence significant events within the book.
3. Engage in a thought-provoking discussion of the major themes present in the narrative.
4. Offer a thoughtful assessment of Harper Lee's distinctive writing style.
5. Conclude with a reflection on the book's enduring relevance in contemporary society.

Experiment and Iterate serve as indispensable strategies when seeking the desired response from ChatGPT. If the initial response falls short of your expectations,  rephrase or add more detail to the prompt. Through iterative refinement, we can guide the AI towards producing the desired output.

Example: Can you delve deeper into the psychological issues within the story, consider a more extensive exploration of those themes.

The summarized prompt is shown as follows with an iOS shortcut for quick test. A generic book review prompt is downloadable here.
Book Literature Analysis Prompt
Let's imagine you're a distinguished literature professor elucidating how Atticus Finch's profound sense of justice influences the pivotal trial in 'To Kill a Mockingbird.' Consider the following prompt structure for a comprehensive book review:

Can you delve deeper into the psychological issues within the story, consider a more extensive exploration of those themes?
When we are not sure if a book worth reading, we can use the following prompt by replacing Title and Author. An iOS shortcut  is created and downloadable here.
Book Recommendation Prompt
Write a thorough yet concise summary of [Book Title] by [Author] concentrating on only the most important takeaways and primary points from the book that together will give me a solid overview and understanding of the book and its topic Include all of the following in your summary: Main topic or theme of the book, why it’s worth reading, key ideas or arguments presented,  chapter titles or main sections of the book with a paragraph on each, key takeaways or conclusions , author’s background and qualifications,  comparison to other books on the same subject , target audience or intended readership,  reception or critical response to the book,  publisher and first published date,  recommendations [Other similar books on the same topic],, and  1 or 2 popular quotes. To sum up: The book’s biggest takeaway and point in a singular sentence OUTPUT: Markdown format with #Headings, ##H2, ###H3, + bullet points, + sub-bullet points.
In conclusion, by employing these strategies—Role-Playing and Context Setting, Clarity and Specificity, and Experiment and Iterate—we can significantly enhance the quality and relevance of ChatGPT's responses, regardless of the topic at hand.
