ChatGPT 4 | Why do we need to setup Channels in ChatGPT?

It may seem intuitive to start a new chat for every conversation with ChatGPT, but it's not the best practice. Instead, we recommend creating a new chat only when switching context or ChatGPT needs to play a different role. This is especially helpful when using ChatGPT plug-ins because we have to pre-set up plug-ins for each chat. We want to avoid repeating the setup every time. 

Here are the setup details:

1. Select which plug-ins to activate in a chat. Select a minimum number of plug-ins to avoid conflict. 
2. Set up the persona and context first for the discussion.
3. Instruct ChatGPT to repeat the task with simplified inputs.

We refer to these chats as "channels.", where ChatGPT stays in a predefined context and persona and only uses the relevant plug-ins. Another benefit is that we can fine-tune ChatGPT's response with more follow-up prompts within a channel.

Let's look at an example. We want ChatGPT to summarize videos before we watch them. We would create a "Video Summary" channel with a "Video Summary plug-in" and put in the following prompt:  

Prompt: When I provide one video URL or multiple video URLs delimited by a comma, please write a video summary for each video in its original language. Each video summary should be less than 300 words. Use headings and subheadings to make it easier to read. Please format it for readability and keep the reading level at an 8th-grade level. Please also give each video a rating of 1 to 5, with 5 as the best based on the content and logic of presenting the story. 

When I say, "Let's summarize the videos." give all the previously unsummarized videos an overview with less than 500 words ​
