Book | Greenlights (2020)

8/16/2023

Don’t walk into a place like you wanna buy it, walk in like you own it.” ― Matthew McConaughey, Greenlights
Greenlights (2020) is an autographed book by Matthew McConaughey. McConaughey describes his first 50 years of life experience and explains his green light philosophy: receiving life signals and build our core values.

He believes life is filled with green, red, and yellow lights. Green lights are affirmation signals that tell us to continue what we do or chase our dreams. We feel prosperous, privileged, contented, and encouraged during the green light moments. On the contrary, during the red-light moments, we feel defeated, go through a tough time, or get a big punch in the face telling us that we were wrong and need to stop and rethink what to do next. Red lights can plant the seed for green lights or turn into green lights and vice versa.

Over time, we build our core values to get more green and reduce red lights. These core values are being our true selves, courageously taking risks, working hard, planning well, being patient, and persistent. McConaughey believes that these are key to our life success.
