Book | Six Months to Live 10 Years Later by Suzanna Marus (2012)

11/19/2023

“Happiness is about feeling good about yourself. “ - Louise Hey
”Happiness is a byproduct of doing things that are chal enging, meaningful, beautiful, and worthwhile.”  ― Brianna Wiest, 101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think
Suzanna tells her real life experience in the book Six Months to Live 10 Years Later. The reason why I was attracted to read this book is her unique cancer healing process (from pages 221/336). In a scientific article studying breast cancer chemotherapy, I found that the doctor mentioned Suzanna's example, so I bought her book.

Suzanna refuse chemotherapy despite her doctors told her she would only have 6 months of life. At this time, her diagnosis was stage 3 of breast cancer, which had spread through lymph nodes. Susan has since begun to find a cure by herself, and she wrote this book for the diagnosis ten years later.  Now, it's 21 years have passed since the diagnosis. Summarizing Suzanna's experience mainly includes three aspects: healthy diet (Body-Diet), relaxed spirit (Mind-Letting Go) and positive attitude to life (Spirit-Happy Life).

Healthy diet The author talked about in the book when visiting chemotherapy, and saw many people come out to eat ice cream between chemotherapy, and even smoke and drink to relieve the pain, which is completely contrary to the purpose of treatment. Don't believe the advice that you can eat anything. Cancer patients must change their diet, eat more foods containing plant fiber, green foods, and abstain from red meat and products rich in animal hormones. Ann Wigmore's Hippocrates diet is also specifically mentioned in the book. This is a diet structure that includes raw vegetables and fruits, wheat grass juice and Essiac. After my research, Essiac has a record of adverse effects on breast cancer, so we can consider skipping it. For a specific diet summary, please refer to our Breast Cancer Diet guide.

Meditation daily brought peace into my life, relieve negative emotions([health] how to let go), and paved the way to relaxation and stress reduction. Life is full of changes and challenges. In fact, we just need to do our best, "Do your best, and then, "Don't worry, be happy." Then, leave the rest to God.”)

Suzanna mentioned in the book that the most important problem of rehabilitation is to think specifically about how to let the past go and start your life again. The full commitment to the process is a vital factor. Suzanna compared this to singing a new song of life and a rebirth. Susan stated in the book, "From misunderstanding, control, betrayal, powerlessness and tragedy, to initiation, love, understand Ing, transformation and healing. The seeds were planted in the soil of my life and as you will discover, my reaction to this insemination created fertile ground for the confrontation and all that followed." Suzanna thinks cancer is God's warning (Kick us on the back) - telling us that "made a mistake". We need to accept this signal and adjust it in time. This signal is God's blessing, giving us a chance to get rid of the demons in our bodies and get back on track.

Positive Life We should think about "What on earth will bring real enthusiasm and happiness to my life now?" Not in the future, but now." Active life is looking for happiness and value. The cancer crisis provides us with many positive possibilities - cure, new life, peaceful death, release of inner resources and discovery of hidden self-knowledge. The crisis of cancer offers many positive possibilities - healing, a new life, a peaceful death, unlocking inner resources, and uncovering hidden self-knowledge."- Cancer as a Turning Point, by psychotherapist Lawrence LeShan Suzanna also gave her own healing schedule (A Typical Day's Healing Programme by Suzanna Marcus).

When Suzanna and her father finally said goodbye, "That day we also spoke of death. We spoke of how the body could be perceived as a suit you hand up when you've finished wearing it, and then the energy of your spirit passes on. So, if I tell the nurse I want to hang up my suit now, do you think she will know what I am talking about? He chuckled") We always have a day to wear suits. Before that, let us be spiritual free.

In the end, the author reminds us to abandon any wild dreams for my future, love life all the time, and deeply thank the divine higher forces for their guidance. After forgiving myself, I also forgive those who I think have hurt me in the past. With this, I am free to be who we want to be. Cancer can also be cured. Wishing you happiness and good health.(Chinese Version)
