What is it? The 5AM Club: Own Your Morning. Elevate Your Life (2018) by Robin Sharma talks about a 5-morning routine when we wake up at 5AM and explains how this habit can benefit our lives. 

Why bother? The book argues that many successful idols attest to this habit. The simple change of sleeping at 10PM and getting up at 5AM can make positive changes. It is a well-written best-selling bestseller. So it's worth a try to see if you would buy into the ideas. 

Key Ideas Getting up at 5AM is the most challenging part of establishing this new habit, but that's not all. We have to know what to do after that. The authors make the following recommendations:
  • Feed the body - Take exercise. If we don't take care of it, our bodies will strike. Since we have some time from early rise. We can feed our bodies first to boost energy. 
  • Feed the mind - Remind ourselves of our purpose. What is dear to our hearts? Make a plan for our day. What is worth our time? Super-charge to stay focused. The discussion is similar to our productivity discussion on how to stay productive. 
  • Feed the knowledge - Even if we take 2 hours a day, we still need ten years to become a master of a field. So allocate the time and start as early as we can. 
The book suggests a 20/20/20 formula that we can add to our morning routine: 
  • 20min of sweating exercise - makes us think faster and removes fear 
  • 20min of reflection - center our day with purpose, ideas, and plan. We would recommend reserving this as your morning tea time. 
  • 20min of learning- build knowledge that makes our dreams possible. 
The 20/20/20 formula is a sample action plan that resonates with the earlier discussion about feeding the body, mind, and knowledge.
