What is it about? The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck (2016) by Mark Manson (https://markmanson.net) is a book about not worrying about how others think of us. The concept can make life happier by avoiding letting others' thoughts impact our life and rejecting comparisons that can destroy our values.

Why bother? We often feel unhappy because of outside influence. The book provides topics to reflect on within ourselves to protect us from unnecessary disruptions to our happiness.

Key Ideas We feel stressed and dissatisfied when our desires are not satisfied, our self-esteem is not respected, our ambition is discouraged, and our values are not recognized. The books suggested the following to avoid stress:
  • Define what we want out of life, understand the price to reach the goal, get ready, fight for it, and then take full responsibility for the outcome.
  • Cut through toxic influences that steal our joy and diminish our self-esteem.
  • Looking further, we can go through the struggles that lead to success.
  • Stop comparing with others.
  • Accept mistakes, think through them, and march on.
It's suggested to go to Mark's blog (https://markmanson.net) to find out more about his life-changing ideas.

“Life is essentially an endless series of problems. The solution to one problem is merely the creation of another.” “To be happy we need something to solve. Happiness is therefore a form of action;”
