50 Lessons from 50 Years

6/26/2022

"Learn from other people's mistakes. Life is too short to make them all yourself." - Sam LevensenI
I recently turned 50. It's a year when you realize you are almost categorized as seniors while not accepting aging internally. Looking back through the years, I summarize essential life lessons.

I love this quote. I also like a suggestion: "Listen to advice from people older than you. You will learn more." So, I put my ear up and opened my eyes, looking for guidance.  I summarize my favorite seven lessons: stay active, stay focused, listen first, do my best, family first and keep looking for better positions.
  1. Keeping a Journal. Makes me stay conscious of my time. Thoughts, events, and people pass by quickly. My journal becomes an extended memory of my life and keeps encounters alive.
  2. Be Me. Stay truthful by knowing my limits, my selfishness, and my mistakes… Accept them because it makes me unique and creates a fantastic life story. Stay open to my potential growth and skills.
  3. Listen first, ask the second, and talk the Last.
  4. Give first and take the second.
  5. Family First. Create a family holiday. Spend time with them. Show your care. Time is the most valuable asset. Give them to the people we love. Pick them with respect. 160 people that be your support team.
  6. Give Your Love. Love your children, parents, and friends. Kis grows up after that, you think. Spend time with them. It will make a big difference.
  7. Cheers. Be a cheerleader for people around you. Seeing more potential than they do.
  8. Learn. Learn from others, from our experiences, books, and everything we can read, watch and experience. Learn from older people and listen to what they say.
  9. Do a damn good job first.
  10. Exchange values.
  11. Accepting means accepting who I am, even if I'm not perfect, admitting my stupid mistake, and taking my problems. Keeping a head in the sand is not a strategy. Instead, act on it.
  12. Decide and move on. There is no perfect decision, and there is no decision that you can make after knowing everything. We can only make the best choice. If it is wrong, take it. If it could be better, accepted. If it's terrible, admit the mistake, and try to fix it later. If you can't, take the result and move on.
  13. It's OK to be expected.
  14. Less is more, and more is more both are OK.
  15. All emotions are good for us. Anger and Sorrow make us know what we value the most. Then fix it and. Pain helps us to escape. Happy makes us relax. Fear protects us. Grief is complicated and heals. Let yourself feel. We are blessed with a rainbow of emotions. Let yourself feel all of them. Resentment is a powerful warning sign. Pay attention and ask yourself what is going on.
  16. Use Calendar to Manage time, what to do, who to spend Tim
  17. Create a To-Do list. A bucket list for family time
  18. Follow your dream, and know your limit. Passion can be adjusted based on knowing who we are, what we are really good at, and being ready to make the most out of it.
  19. Giving. Giving and sharing matters and make us happy and meaningful in the long run.
  20. Take care of yourself. Health is the basis for everything we do.
  21. Facing death and treasuring life. “The secret of life is to "die before you die" — and find that there is no death.”  (Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment).
  22. Relationship matters.
  23. It's OK for someone to not like you.
  24. I'm not the center of the world. We may overthink the importance or significance of things we do. Actually, few people care. No one is looking at you unless you are helpful to them. It's not a big deal to make a mistake. No one care unless it impacts them.
  25. Do one thing at a time. Be persistent. And the result comes with years of working to excel.
  26. Do my best
  27. Do a dam good job. Know your strength and weakness. No worry about the result. That's not something you can control. Do one thing you are proud of in your whole life, in a year, in a day. Believe in your own value. No one can underestimate it. Minor changes and progress matter. Celebrate them. Growth mindset. Be sure to limit yourself.
  28. Change to grow. We are not the same every day. Improve.
  29. Integrity means doing what you said. If you can't do it, don't give commitment.
  30. Influences are a complex skill.
  31. Choose friends. That makes our life. There are a lot of great people. Search for them and learns from them. Surround me with people more intelligent and happier than me. Don't let others dictate your life.
  32. Believe in your Child and tell them.
  33. No Ego. Self Centered.
  34. Setup Routines or rituals.
  35. Be a doer. No complaints, no whining. Take action
  36. Please pay attention to what we eat.
  37. Take the driving seat. Decide what I do and who I meet.
  38. Be grateful. Thanks for everything others do for us, show our appreciation, and give back.
  39. Be positive.
  40. Failure is an investment. Learn from it. Please don't waste it.
  41. Be active. Exercise daily. Take care of yourself. There is no backup.
  42. Know my Why know my purpose and reason before any actions
  43. Have an open mind.  Forgive myself and others.
  44. No Personal Debt.
  45. Live in the present moment. No worry about the future. There is no need to worry. What you are stressing about won't matter later.
  46. Want something, then learn how to get it. Earn more know about money
  47. Don't compare.
  48. Stay away from danger.
  49. Stay focused and take time. Speed up can't help. Be patient on what we can get, do and learn. It all takes time. Dive into every day, minute, and every thing you do. You will enjoy the most. Express authentic feelings.
  50. Keep looking for a better position.
The journey continues. We will revisit this 5 years later.
