Should I Study MBA

5/24/2020

The MBA program is renowned for its numerous benefits, which include acquiring enhanced business skills, opening doors to diverse career opportunities, building valuable connections, developing entrepreneurial abilities, and fostering personal growth through critical thinking, leadership, and effective communication.

Personally, the most significant impacts for me has been the recognition of the importance of engaging with people. Although this concept was often encountered and emphasized, its true significance didn't resonate with me until my aha moment in one of the class. I thus gained a profound understanding of emotional intelligence and know how to practically apply in the business world. It’s a transformation of how I observe and interact with the world.

It has become evident that self-awareness and the ability to drive change are challenging tasks, and the MBA program has provided me with an invaluable opportunity to explore and make a meaningful difference. I consider this aspect to be the most valuable part of my education.

It has become clear that knowing and effecting change ourselves is a challenging task, and the MBA education provides an invaluable opportunity to discover and make a meaningful difference. I consider this aspect to be the most valuable part of my education.
Sukee’s Note: MBA at UT McCombs business school is an unforgettable experience.

Become a Minimalist

5/10/2020

Minimalism means living with less. It has become a popular lifestyle because of its significant benefits, such as being present, saving money and time, and allowing people to focus on what truly matters.

Minimized living following the principle of quality over quantity in minimalism can bring happiness by reducing the time and effort spent on maintaining and preserving possessions and avoiding making challenging decisions when letting things go. Furthermore, minimalism helps avoid overthinking, often leading to unnecessary stress. We have curated some interesting topics to explore when it comes to practicing minimalism:

We've rounded up some exciting topics to talk about when it comes to minimalist practices.
  • To minimize:  It's difficult to dispose of because of endowment bias. One tip from Sasaki Fumio (佐佐木) is, "If you think of getting rid of one thing five times, let it go."
    • Living Room: Consider removing pillows, rugs, and unread books.
    • Closets: removing cloth that do not spark joy or memory or haven't been worn for one year,  and sticking to a simple dressing style.
    • Kitchen: Remove items passing expiration date, tools not used more than one year or duplicates.
    • Gifts: We can take pictures of the present without use and then let them go. Consider giving experience gifts.
    • Friends: Spend time with friends who care about you and your relationships
  • To refuse...
    • One in One Out means not buying a new item if the old one is still in use or we can't ensure zero waste.
    • Buy the 1st option with high quality within the most demand. Otherwise, you will end up buying more if you compromise.
Remember, minimalism is a personal journey, and it may take time to adjust to this lifestyle. Embrace the process and celebrate the newfound freedom of living with less.
Sukee's Note (2023/07/01): Since I practiced minimalism in 2022, two years have passed. The initial trigger was organizing my home during the pandemic lockdowns. I am pleased to know and now incorporate this concept into my daily life. Here is my minimum list for becoming a minimalist:
  • Start with the 30-day minimalism game, which throws out 465 items in one month.
  • Created a personal minimal list
  • Read theminimalists.com. No other site. It's sufficient.
With this, I found the freedom with more attention to my inner voice.
