“Take care of your body. it’s the only place you have to live.” – Jim Rohn
Chat | Food Poisoning12/19/2021 I suddenly feel dizzy and can't stand. The world turns dark. It's probably food poisoning. I called J for help, and his first question was whether we needed to call 911. I said no. He rushed back from his friend's house and gave me a cup of warm water. This rare case reminds me of how important it is to be careful about what we put in our mouths. Food poisoning is serious and dangerous. We should stay away from contaminated, spoiled, undercooked, or toxic food.

Learning from Mistakes12/5/2021 "Learn from other people's mistakes. Life is too short to make them all yourself." - Sam Levenson
I love this quote. There is a lot of advice we wish we had known early in life. At one point, I heard a suggestion: "Listen to advice from people older than you and you will learn more." So, I pricked my ear up, opened my eyes, and looked for those guidance pieces. I've rounded up my favorite seven lessons: take care of health, stay focused, listen first, do my best and keep looking for better positions. Take care of health Take care of our health because there is no backup. Stay active energizes our body to ward off invasions and stimulate energy. Visit doctors for preventive care and make it a routine. Release stress and quiet the mind. All of these are necessary to keep the game on. Stay focused There are many things out of our control: if people like us and how they treat us, natural disasters, the past, the future, the outcome of our decision... But there are also things that we can control: how we treat others, respond to others, how we feel, the present, and what to choose. We can stay focused on what we can control and live on our values. Listen first (ask the second, talk the last) We have two ears and one mouth. Using it to remember: listening and understanding are more important than expressing what we think. The audience matters more than ourselves. Ask a question to understand fully. It's the art of living. Do my best Do a dam good job! Know your strength and weakness. No worry about the result. That's not something we can control. Do one thing you are proud of in your life, one year and one day at a time. Believe in our worth. No one can underestimate it—small changes and improvements matter. Celebrate the—growth mindset. There are no preset limits. Keep looking for a better position. I heard that the best career strategy is to keep looking for better positions until we find that we are up to our ambition and limits. I would say, learn how to navigate the job market, build skills needed by our goal and not settle until you fulfill your mission. What's the lesson you learned? Chat | Read a Book Every Week12/1/2021 Maalaea Bay Maui, 2022 Reading is a manageable way of acquiring knowledge. Reading one book a week is an achievable task, after which we can find rewarding changes.
Many pieces of advice are offered online on how to make it happen, such as reading 30 pages daily, prioritizing the reading, holding yourself accountable for the resolution, etc. Although they are not bad suggestions, several approaches work better for me over time. Start with five books altogether and march on for one month. The reason is simple: every book is different. We can scan some books to get the idea. Some books require deep thinking and even practice to make them meaningful. We need to read some books once, but even if we read daily, we still discover new things every time! Some books are fun, so reading them is like breathing fresh air. Some books are as challenging as trekking in the mud. Therefore, reading one book for a week can be dull or tiring. Switch gears can refresh our minds. Read a topic on purpose. Find a problem to address or a question to answer. Then, read books that show us how to clear our doubts. I can find related business concepts when I read stories about successful businesses. The following curiosity makes reading much more fun. When I am interested in time management, I find all the high-rated books on Amazon and read them collectively. I sometimes pick an author and read all of their books. I usually did this when scanning books from authors who received the Nobel Prize in Literature or Hugo Awards in science fiction. I find it fascinating to observe how the authors deliver different messages over their lifetime. Lastly, remember that reading is not limited to traditional books. We now have the option to read, listen, or even have others present us with a summary. Some of my preferred book summary channels are Productivity Game and Book Video Club on YouTube. By embracing these diverse reading channels, we can make our learning experience more flexible and enjoyable. |
