When I moved to Austin, my friends told me that Dell, Austin's leading enterprise, would not schedule on-site interviews in the summer. This might just be a joke but it shows one of the main reasons that drive people away from this beautiful town. It's not a perfect place. Still, in the past 18 years, Austin's population jumped from 1 million to 2 million. The heated summer did prevent it from growing from a small college town to one of the Americans' favorite cities.
The same idea applies to many other things. Steve Jobs's iconic launch speak also has almost 80 uhs. It's the belief and overall charisma that influences the audience. We learn something from these:
- We don't need to put a demanding requirement on ourselves. It doesn't have to be perfect.
- We don't need to play hard on others. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, especially when managing a team. We can't all be Type A. There must be Type B and C. Even Type A members may have character flaws that drive others crazy.
