Hauser was born on June 15, 1986, in Pula, Croatia. He comes from a music family and started playing the cello at a young age. Hauser studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. In 2011, he joined his rivals in classical music competitions, Luka Šulić, who was born one year later than him (on August 25, 1987) in Maribor, Slovenia, and formed 2CELLOS in 2011 after their viral cover of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" on YouTube.
2CELLOS has been successful with prestigious performance and album releases. In 2022, they concluded their collaboration with a final tour ending in Zagreb, Croatia in 2022. Luka Šulić is focusing on his solo career and family life. At the same time, Stjepan Hauser continues to perform solo and has launched his "Rebel with a Cello" tour, which we participated in at Austin Bass Concert Hall.
