As humans, we often feel the need or willingness to conform to social norms and fit in with those around us. This was recently brought to my attention by a neighbor.
Our neighborhood was hit by hail damage, and many neighbors are replacing their roofs. However, one of my neighbors decided to go against the norm and chose to metal roof rather than a shingle roof. They look stunning and make their house stand out. But soon, I found a lot of lightning rods on his roof. It turned out that the roof of his new house did not make their house the most vulnerable target of lightning in this area.
There is a price to be different.
